Big mistake on the weather front, I normally manage to arrange cold frosty mornings or totally wet ones!
This week the team turned out at Sandiacre to clear the footpath that runs along the popular walk from the Bottom Lock upwards.
Brilliant sunshine and a dry working area meant that we could cut some of the grass/overgrowth along the path, once again work was often interrupted to chat to many of the local residents referring to the proposed dig out of the lock that is planned very soon.
One tree was causing concern as it had started to lean over the footpath, so even when we do not cut trees at this time of the year in respect of wildlife we have had to take this one down. All the logs have been left along the footpath for local residents to take away if required.
Work will resume in two weeks at Draycott to finish the hedge laying to allow the teams to move to Spondon in the Autumn/Winter. After several trips to the site at Draycott this has indicated an abundance of wildlife in the hedge that has been layered and is full of wildlife, but nothing using the un-layered hedge!
