This week the Canal Societies working party group met at the Draycott stretch of the canal to continue the hedge cutting along the area that was previously laid over the last two years.
We had three teams working on site, one team at the Hopwell Road end, clearing the scrub that has been threatening to take control over the banks along the canal path, the area is starting to look a lot neater now.
The second and third teams began hedge cutting and clearing the off cuts from the canal bank, a lot of ground has so far been covered this year, but there is still more to do.
Picture shows one of the team, Peter, cutting the hedge half way along the stretch.
The next working party is planned for Sunday the 2nd of November at Draycott again to continue the hedge laying, meet at Hopwell Road at 09.30, we work until 1 p.m, or whenever you want to!
The Canal Society is to hold its AGM at the Wilmott Arms in Borrowash at 8 p.m. on Tuesday the 28th October, all welcome, as usual full details of the Societies working parties can be found on our webpage here and membership details can be found here; along with details on how to buy membership for friends and families as a novel Christmas gift this year.
