The Canal society held its first working party of the New Year at Draycott on Sunday 11th January. Three teams where hard at work on a fairly chilly morning, the first team completed the tidy up at the Hopwell Road area whilst the other two teams deployed to complete some 25 meters of hedge laying along the canal bank.
We now have only 105 meters left to lay and hope to get this completed this winter before the wildlife once more returns. The members and helpers in Borrowash have been busy hedge laying and cleaning up, they are now very close to completing all the hedge laying at that area.
On-going work in three major areas mean that getting sections under water are getting closer than ever. Our two guest speakers are getting booked up for the year by various clubs and societies, but some dates are still available. All details and contact information regarding diary dates for working parties and social meetings are available in our working party diary.
