Dear Members of the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust/Society,
Welcome to the latest edition of the newsletter.
We find ourselves in strange times, Linda and myself hope that you are all keeping well and safe.
A picture taken last month of our back garden showing that there is still some pleasure out there to enjoy, even if we are all restricted on our movements. News will soon be out on the way forward, just keep safe and happy – if anyone needs anything, please get in touch and we will see what we can do.
Works at Draycott
Talking of news, we have received planning permission for the restoration of the cottages, we are just waiting for the all clear to presume work on site. This has put us back a little, but the wellbeing of all our helpers is paramount and will not be risked for anything.
Also on the news front is that we also have planning permission for the dig out at Draycott – yes, it is going to happen this year! Letters have gone out regarding the pledges offered and also we are asking for consideration to anyone who has not pledged to consider helping out, we are about £5,000 short at the moment due to extra costs that we need to incur regarding my little friends the water voles. We must ensure that first they are there, and then if they are, how to make sure they are safe during construction.
Donating to DSCT
There are a number of ways that donors can donate, perhaps the simplest is via Virgin Money Giving, which can administer Gift Aid; donations via Virgin Money Giving can be made anonymously to the Trust.
If you regularly shop online by using Give As You Live you can direct a donation from the retailer to the Trust without it costing you a penny more. This one is important as we are all shopping more from home at the moment, costs you nothing and helps us a lot. I have been assured that even buying beer and wine works as well, I must try it.
If interested, please feel free to press the images and start donating!
Parting Thought
The last from me at present, a picture of Draycott in May 2020. This time next year, with your support, it will be a totally different view.
