At last, good weather for a working party!
The team met at Draycott for the last time this Spring to complete as much of the remaining hedge laying as possible prior to the birds returning to nest. We have now cut and laid over 150 meters of the remaining 450 meters, so lots of work for next Autumn/Winter.
Most of the saplings have also now been taken down along the canal bank to secure the ground ready for final excavation. The teams also concentrated on a general tidy up of the area with the removal of lots of debris that has built up over the season.
Work will now move to the proposed Sandiacre Lock excavation site, getting the ground clear and restoring some fence work, this will take place in March, the teams will then be moving to Borrowash to help tidy up this area prior to the full return of the leaves on the trees and scrub.
There is always plenty to do and the ever increasing numbers of members that turn up on Sundays is ensuring that we are keeping on top of most of the work.
