Dear Members,
This is a reminder for our final meeting of the year on Tuesday at the Wilmot Arms, Borrowash DE72 3HA. We will be starting the meeting at 7.30pm as agreed at the AGM.
I’m delighted to tell you that we will be treated to a night of nostalgia. Ian Bowley – one of our own – will be presenting films of the Derby Canal as it used to be.
Please come along and support the evening and remind yourselves of what we are fighting for.
We managed to miss the rain on the working parties this weekend and made more progress at Draycott. Progress still gallops forward at Borrowash as the line is steadily being cleared of brambles and other growth. Please help the teams there on Weds 30th Nov and 14th Dec at 9.30am at Borrowash and 4th and 18th Dec at Draycott.
We are also looking for support at the Dickensian Christmas in Draycott Village centre on Tuesday 29th starting at 5pm. We will be publicising the Draycott section and handing out leaflets. Please support us, but beware that traffic will be barred from the Village from 3 pm, so look for the nominated car parking areas. Let’s hope for good weather!
Can I also remind everyone that we are preparing the next Packet and it was agreed at the AGM that we would send it out electronically if we have an email address and we have no request for a paper copy. For those of you not at the AGM the debate outlined the cost of printing and postage and the substantial time for the committee to arrange distribution. We want to direct efforts and funds on the delivery of a canal, but if you do want a printed Packet delivered please reply to this email.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Chris Madge
Chairman
