Wet and windy, not the ideal day to be in the bottom of a lock on a Sunday morning, but that is exactly where the hardy helpers of the canal society found themselves this Sunday at Borrowash. Our first problem was to navigate a way in through the vegetation , and a very active wasps nest, to get near the grey willow that has taken hold and could cause problems to the restored brick-work. Once we had cleared all that we could in the lock bottom we cleared some of the saplings growing near the edge of the top and also some of the current years growth along the footpath. Thanks to the band of volunteers that keep turning up every week at Borrowash, this stretch is once again looking good.
Next Sunday, the 7th of June we will be attending the Chaddesden Big One along with our trailer boat and full details of the proposed route, come and say hello!
As usual, full details of events, working parties and membership can be found on our web page, along with our social media sites on Twitter and Facebook.
