Motorway Crossing

The restored canal would go under the M1 motorway at Longmoor Lane.

Proposed Engineering Options include:

1: Running the canal alongside the existing road under the motor way by evaluating if an existing nearby road bridge crossing the motorway has enough spare width to accommodate a narrow canal channel next to the tarmac.

2: Thrust-boring a tunnel – Drilling a dedicated water culvert straight through the solid M1 earth embankment.
