The Derby and Sandiacre Canal Societies working parties resumed this week after the long Easter break, for one final time this year we attended Draycott to finish the final few meters of hedge laying, after checking that nothing was nesting in the few trees left we had to lay.
The Society also cleared a large area of brambles that had started to infringe onto the main road, this was causing concern regarding young children in pushchairs that are at eye level with the very sharp barbs that could cause serious injury.
Another team started the preparation work on securing a fence that runs under the main road to heighten safety for walkers with young children or animals, this work will be completed on our next visit in two weeks time.
Our next Social evening at the Wilmot Arms in Borrowash on the 28th April is a talk from Eric Boultbee on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, meeting starts at 8pm, entrance fees apply.
We are also pleased to announce our launch on Facebook and Twitter! Full details of all social events can be found here.
