Dear Members of the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust/Society,
Welcome to the latest edition of the newsletter.
At last for some, the end of the lock down is in sight! Subject to official guidance, everyone behaving correctly, following rules and common sense. This means that after a lot of hard work, thank you David, we have managed to restart working parties at the cottages under strict controls.
Radio Derby
We have even attracted the attention of BBC Radio Derby who came on site to interview Chris regarding the progress to date, you can listen to the interviews on the BBC iplayer.
I say interviews because on the same day David was interviewed at Spondon, regarding the amazing work being done on site there to restore our first stretch back into water, see picture right.
River Boat
Our trip boat has had its solar panels fitted so this will be a true “green” boat when launched in the spring next year. Follow us on Twitter/Facebook/Web page and press, we really are attracting attention.
Meetings & Publications
Our own members meetings continue to be on hold at present and I will advise when they are able to restart. Apart from this update and social media we have also managed to produce the latest edition of the Packet – thank you Roger and Doug. Most have gone out via electronic means to reduce social contact and it seems to be working well, if you have missed it please look on our web page here
Give as You Live
Lock down has meant that more of us are doing our shopping online, why not register using the Give as you Live site and earn some much needed funds for us, it does not cost you a penny and we will all benefit from the additional funds raised, remember I have some water voles that need looking after. Click the icon to the right to find out more.
Draycott Pledges
The request for pledges to dig Draycott out have come in thick and fast, and a massive thank you from the Trust for this, but alas in the current situation some businesses have not been able to assist, which is understandable, if you have not yet responded or feel that you would like to assist please get in touch or let me know of anyone who may be interested.
Regards and look after yourselves,
Eddy – Chairman
