In early January we were advised that the safety fence at the edge of the narrow walkway under Draycott Road Bridge had been stolen and Derbyshire County Council had placed a closure notice on the footpath. The photos below show the original fence and then the walkway with the fence removed; with careful examination of the picture you can see the bolts protruding from the concrete where the fence had been carefully removed.
With the support of a team of volunteers over two Sunday mornings a new safety fence has been installed; which has been approved by the Council and the footpath reopened. The new fence, see pictures, has been designed to be safe but less attractive to metal thieves, and has been fitted with anti-tamper fixings.
Thanks to all involved, you know who you are.
