Derby & Sandiacre Canal – Long Term Plans
The map below shows how the DSCT is planning to rebuild the Derby & Sandiacre Canal to allow it to join with the existing canal network (Trent & Mersey, Erewash) to provide a loop of canal that could be used for long weekend cruises.
The restoration is broken up into different sections with activity based on priority (A being highest, C being lowest).
Canal Route Colour Coding:
Blue – Original route to be restored
Grey – Abandoned / Unrecoverable
Red – Proposed New route
Orange – Proposed alternative route (where applicable)
Gold – ‘The Golden Mile’ – The Draycott Project
Green – Trent & Mersey Canal
Pink – River Trent
Yellow – Erewash Canal
