Welcome Members,
I hope you’ve received your copy of the Packet in the last few weeks. We’ve had a few comments back and I’d like to invite a few more. The magazine is for you and it makes it easier for us to improve it following your feedback. Any suggestions or details for sending you an electronic copy to packet@derbycanal.org.uk.
Our meeting on Tuesday night at the Wilmot Arms, Borrowash will welcome Rosemary Gibson from the Grantham canal to tell us what’s been going on. We’re aware of the HLF funded locks restoration (working in conjunction with CRT) and I’m sure Rosemary will fill in the detail and show us progress to date. Anne and I attended an IWA Notts and Derbys meeting there last year and Rosemary was in charge of the walk and talk. She’s a lovely lady with a passion for her canal that I’m sure we all recognise. It’s a coup for her to come to us and it would be good to welcome her in numbers.
Our next working party will be on Sunday 22nd from 9.30am at Draycott. We are planning to continue the tidying up work there and (bird life permitting) will have some bonfires and lay some hedge.
The following working party will be at 9.30am on Sunday 5th June at Borrowash (meet at Borrowash bottom lock).
We will also be attending events at Hayworth Park, Sandiacre on 4th June, and the Spirit of Chellaston on 18th June. Please let us know if you’d like to help, but feel free to drop in for a chat and update even if you can’t stay.
I hope to see you at any or all of the coming events.
Chris Madge
Chairman
