DESCRIPTION:Support the Derby & Sandiacre Trust Working Parties!\nWe’re trying a different working parties calendar format to what we’ve done in the past. We found that due to weather conditions\, changes of availability (or just bad luck!)  we had to change some of our working parties\, and the website calendar struggled to keep up – plus\, there was not an effective way of keeping everyone updated. \nThe Calendar entry is now generic and contains useful information that covers the potential activities being performed (see below). \nIf you want to know what’s specifically happening each week – email info@derbycanal.org.uk and get added to our working party mailing list!\nThis will be the best way to keep up to speed with any changes in planning due to weather or other circumstances. \n  \nGeneral Information\nActivities are typically started at 9.30am and run to around 1pm (about the time when volunteers fancy a trip to the pub typically!) \nThe activities on offer vary regularly and based on the season; but in general could consistent of: \n\nHelping with Lock restoration (Sandiacre / Borrowash).\nHelping with Canal Cottages restoration (Draycott).\nClearing or maintaining vegetation (potentially including bonfires as appropriate).\nPlanting new trees or vegetation.\nOther activities related to the above at each location.\n\nContact: info@derbycanal.org.uk\nHS&E requirements:\nSturdy Boots and gloves are recommended for working outside\, as well as clothing sensible to the conditions. DESCRIPTION:Support the Derby & Sandiacre Trust Working Parties!\nWe’re trying a different working parties calendar format to what we’ve done in the past. SUMMARY:DSCT - Members Social Meeting
DESCRIPTION:DSCT Members Social Meeting – Talk\nIn 2022\, this meeting will be held the fourth Tuesday of each Month (starting in March 2022).\n\nThe Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust invites a guest speaker to present to the Trust on a topic of interest. From experience they are usually very engaging and interesting (at least for those that enjoy Canals\, History\, Engineering\, Nature\, and all things in between). Given recent Covid-19 restrictions; we have had to hold these virtually over Zoom\, but are now re-introducing meetings in person.\n\nMeetings are NOT being held via Zoom; only on-site at the Canal Cottages in Draycott. \n\nOur first tranche of speakers/events are summarised below:\nTues 22nd March – Robert Lee – “Early Railway Developments” (Together with a tour of the Cottages complex)\nTues 26th April –  Anne Featherstone – “The Curious History of Sweeney Todd“\nTues 24th May – Michael Crane\, Stewart Craven – “Beeston Lock Cottages”\nTues 28th June – Chris Madge – ” Draycott Canal Cottages – 4 years of hard work by our volunteers”\nTues 26th July – Annual Walk! – Meeting at the Silk Mill for a walk and discussion of future Derby City developments.\nTues 27th Sept – Dave Savidge talking on WRG work Camps\nTues 27th Oct – Brian Dale – “Tombstone technology\, some disasters that helped to make our railways safe.” \nThurs 17th Nov – AGM – information available at: https://derbycanal.org.uk/agm22/ \nTues 22nd Nov – Barry Watson – “Operating Canal Hotel Boats” \nTo help pay for the speakers\, a small fee is paid on the door: \nMembers: £2 \nNon-Members: £3 \nWhat to join in? – Become a member today!

DESCRIPTION:Support the Derby & Sandiacre Trust Working Parties!\nWe’re trying a different working parties calendar format to what we’ve done in the past. We found that due to weather conditions\, changes of availability (or just bad luck!)  we had to change some of our working parties\, and the website calendar struggled to keep up – plus\, there was not an effective way of keeping everyone updated. \nThe Calendar entry is now generic and contains useful information that covers the potential activities being performed (see below). \nIf you want to know what’s specifically happening each week – email info@derbycanal.org.uk and get added to our working party mailing list!\nThis will be the best way to keep up to speed with any changes in planning due to weather or other circumstances. \n  \nGeneral Information\nActivities are typically started at 9.30am and run to around 1pm (about the time when volunteers fancy a trip to the pub typically!) \nThe activities on offer vary regularly and based on the season; but in general could consistent of: \n\nHelping with Lock restoration (Sandiacre / Borrowash).\nHelping with Canal Cottages restoration (Draycott).\nClearing or maintaining vegetation (potentially including bonfires as appropriate).\nPlanting new trees or vegetation.\nOther activities related to the above at each location.\n\nContact: info@derbycanal.org.uk\nHS&E requirements:\nSturdy Boots and gloves are recommended for working outside\, as well as clothing sensible to the conditions. For Draycott\, as it’s an active building site it would be appreciated if you could bring any of your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that would be suitable; we do have some limited supplies.
