Two weeks away and still lots of work being done on the canal and at various shows and events.
This week we attended Draycott to clear the foot-path of overgrowth that was restricting access to the route that runs under Derby Road, we also cleared more brambles from the edge of the main road.

June was a busy month, 23rd saw our Annual Canal Walk, this year we where at the Derby end of the canal, organised by David Hayes and Derek Hathaway and supported by the City Council. 45 members and guests turned up for an informative walk and talk.

June the 20th we attended the Long Eaton Carnival, we towed our replica boat along the route for two hours, met lots of local people that showed amazing interest in the up coming work that is planned at Sandiacre and over 10,000 people attended this event, we also introduced our on-line survey to gain local opinion to the restoration, full details of how to help us can be found on our web page, www.derbycanal.org.uk

28th of June, the team was at Sandiacre, with the proposed excavation of the bottom lock under way we needed to locate the exact location of the top stones to enable accurate plans to be made. I am pleased to say that we now know the exact location and are awaiting date for a full excavation very soon.

Pictures show the team searching for the lock at Sandiacre.
