Dear Member,

I hope you have had a pleasant summer break and avoided most of the rain. Our meetings are commencing again on Tuesday 27th Sept from 8pm at the Wilmot Arms, Derby Road Borrowash DE72 3HA. Our speaker will be John Wilkinson who is a keen boater and will tell us a little more about boating in Burgundy (the place not the tipple). I’ve been lucky to do so and it comes highly recommended for scenery as well as the wine. You will be in the culpable hands of Eddy as I will be presenting to a group of ladies in Sandiacre and trying to convince them to join us. Eddy will be able to update you on the progress made on many fronts during the holiday.

Other Events
On Sunday 25th Sept we will be at the Navigation in Breaston to support the Friends of the Navigation. Please come along and enjoy it with us from 12 until 4pm.

On Saturday 1st October we will be on the Canal in central Nottingham with full boat and stand at the CanalFest organised by CRT/IWA. You’ll find us close to the canalboat pub with historic boats and stand and activities from tyhe canal world. This is the second year it has been run which is testament to its success last year.

Working Parties
You may have seen the progress at Borrowash with the lock and channel recovery. Eddy has now started a Wednesday working party group (next meeting 9.30am 5th Oct) to continue the good progress there while the main Sunday group will resume the work at Draycott with hedge laying on 16th Oct. We are keen to get this completed this season with the push to get Draycott restored next year now gaining momentum. Please come and help, most of the work requires enthusiasm rather than skills.

A final plea for help – see the recent Packet for details –the more help we get (whether physical, fundraising or administration) the sooner we get a stretch into water.

Thanks and see you soon.
