On Sunday 6th July members of the Derby and Sandicacre Canal Society responded to a public request to attend a footpath along the Canal path in Draycott that had become seriously overgrown over the fine summer months with various items.

The pictures show a before and after situation – showing just how much scrub that had to be cleared to make this popular footpath safe to walk again. The Society members where on site for over four hours, working in very warm conditions to say the least!

Due to the encouraging warm weather we have decided to work again at Draycott next Sunday to control any on-going weed/scub issues now rather than later in the year to keep this well used walk-way clear and to keep the local area tidy for the Draycott in Bloom entry.

The next working party meets at Hopewell Road on Sunday morning at 09.30, all welcome.
